Color Picker

The color picker is used to pick a color for a particular part of the web site. This includes but not limited fonts, backgrounds and borders.

  •  The title and icon of the color picker will vary depending on what it's being used for. In this case it is being used to modify the Font Color.

  • The large two dimensional area display the range of colors that are not selected as the primary unit. Drag the little circle around to change the current color based on this area.

  • The vertical bar that shows red fading to black in this drawing represents the value of the primary unit. Move the slider up and down to change this value.

  • The block that says new above it displays the actual color selected as you make changes in the picker.

  • The block that says current is the color of the element being modified before making changes.

  • Select the H radio button to set the primary unit to HUE. The slider to the left will now display the rainbow of hues. You can use the slider to change the hue. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 360 degrees.

  • Select the S radio button the set the primary unit to Saturation. The slider to the left will now display the saturation values. You can use the slider to change the saturation. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 100 percent.

  • Select the B radio button the set the primary unit to Brightness. The slider to the left will now display the brightness values. You can use the slider to change the brightness. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 100 percent.

  • Select the R radio button the set the primary unit to Red. The slide to the left will now display the red component of the color. You can use the slider to change the amount of red in the color. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 255.

  • Select the G radio button the set the primary unit to Green. The slider to the left will now display the green component of the color. You can use the slider to change the amount of green in the color. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 255.

  • Select the B radio button the set the primary unit to Blue The slider to the left will now display the blue component of the color. You can use the slider to change the amount of blue in the color. You may also set the value to the right of the radio button from 0 to 255.

  • The field with the # sign is the current hexadecimal representation of the color. You can change the color by modifying this field. This is convenient as many tools use this representation so you might use the clipboard to grab this value from an image in Photoshop and paste it here.

  • The transparent checkbox will make the current color transparent.

  • Press OK to accept the changed color.

  • Pres Close to continue using the previous color.

Swatches

The swatch manager is used to save colors for use in your site at a later time. The swatches with a little grey dot are ones set by the template. Color swatch operation happen as you execute them so pressing Cancel will not under changes in the swatches area.

  • Click on a color swatch to set the currently picked color to that color.

  • Press the plus  button to add the currently picked color to swatches.

  • Click on a color swatch and then press the minus button to remove a color swatch.
