Page Operations

Page Operations are completed using the Page Manager which is available in the Pages Tab of the Quick Panel. Most Page Operations are completed by right clicking on a page and selecting an operation from the popup menu.

Page Manager Overview

  •  The page manager is a tree control with the top level being  one of three types of things.

    • At the top is the messages folder denoted with the Outbox  icon. This contains special pages called messages that can be sent via email to a list of users.

    • The next top level folder is the hidden folder represented by the open folder  icon. This is a place to put pages that are not in any of the site menus. They still exist in the site but they need to be accessed with an exact URL or link to page feature.

    • Below hidden is a folder for each menu area specified in the web site design represented by the open folder  icon. In this case, they are header and main. This can vary depending on the design.

  • Under messages, there can be folders and messages.

    • The folder is indicated with the closed folder  icon. The folder is only used to organize messages to make them easier to find.

    • Messages are indicated with the envelope  icon.

  • Under hidden and each of the menu areas are pages represented with the page  icon. Pages may contain other pages make for a tree of pages and sub pages. The sub pages represent drop down menus in a standard workstation menu. For a mobile menu pages will be represented as a tree the visitor can click an icon to expand sub pages. The home page, which is the page a visitor will see if they use the domain part of your URL without specifying a page (http://www.domain.com) will have the home  icon.

  • To the left of each item that has sub items there is a chevron icon. If the item is not expanded the chevron icon will point to the right and clicking the icon will expand the item and show its sub elements.  If the item  is expanded, the chevron will point down  and clicking the icon will contract the item and hide all its sub elements.

  • You can change the order of a page in the menu by dragging the item on top of another item. The item will be moved immediately below the item you drop it on at the same level as the item you drop it on. While you are dragging the item you are dragging will have a ghost image of the item that will follow your cursor (figure 2). At the beginning of the ghost is an arrow that points to the right  indicating the the item will be dropped below an item at the same level. If you hold down the control key while dragging, the item will be placed as a sub item if the one its dropped on. When the control key is held, the arrow become a  level down icon

  • All the other operations use a context initiated by clicking the right mouse button. This context menu varies depending on the item the cursor is over.

    • Messages  - displays the drop down menu in figure 3.

    • Message Folder  - displays the drop down menu in figure 4.

    • Message  - displays the drop down menu in figure 5.

    • Hidden and Menu Area  - displays the drop down menu in figure 6.

    • Page  - displays the drop down menu in figure 7.

    Custom Meta Tags

Meta tags are pieces of information stored in the pages of your site that the visitor cant see but computers can see. These are mostly used by search engines but they can be used for much more. The editor places the standard tags in as a result of Page Properties and other sources. This feature allows you to add custom Meta tags. Sometimes these tags are specific to a particular analytics system or social network.
